ABOUT US

History

Pembrokeshire Crossroads began in 1991 as a result of the need for a carers’ short break respite service in Pembrokeshire.  There are many pleasures in being a Carer but it is a demanding role and Carers need some time to be themselves.  The first Crossroads scheme was begun in Rugby over 30 years ago, and the first scheme in Wales started 26 years ago.  There are now 24 Crossroads schemes in Wales

We are affiliated to the National Association of Crossroads schemes, but as with all Crossroads schemes, we operate independently so far as our service provision and funding is concerned.

The Management Team

The Board of Trustees, who are all volunteers who give generously of their time, meet once a month as the Management Committee.  The Scheme Manager has the responsibility for the day to day running of the service.    There is also a Deputy Manager, Office/Finance Manager, a Senior Carer and an Office Assistant.

The Carer Support Workers

We have a team of employed and trained Carer Support Workers who are experienced in the caring profession.  They will look after the person being cared for so that the carer can have a break.
